About the Community Service Office

The Community Service Office serves as a resource for students to connect with, build and sustain meaningful service initiatives through partnerships in St. Louis and around the globe.

We focus our programs and services in five key areas:

We ORGANIZE community service initiatives that are reliable, long-lasting and make substantive impact on the St. Louis community.

We INSPIRE students to establish and deepen a personal commitment to community engagement and social justice.

We COMMUNICATE opportunities for involvement with student-led service initiatives and in response to voiced community needs.

We ENGAGE students in the process of creating community partnerships that are sustainable, effective and of mutual benefit.

We FACILITATE collaboration among individuals and organizations with a common vision.

Our office serves WU students - including undergraduate, graduate, and professional students - with a focus on co-curricular community service. In addition to our signature programs, we offer advising and consultation to individual students and student groups regarding their community service interests and plans.

We assist students in identifying their passions, developing action plans, building and sustaining community partnerships, leading community service and philanthropy efforts, and connecting with a wide variety of opportunities through campus and nonprofit organizations. Our office serves as a referral source to student-run efforts through Student Union groups, Campus Y, campus ministries and more.

Given our dual focus on student leadership development and community impact, the Community Service Office is proudly affiliated with both Campus Life (including Student Involvement and Leadership and Danforth University Center and Event Management) and the Gephardt Institute for Public Service.
